The Balyarra Park and Pump Track at LandCorps Baynton West Estate is now complete and is a popular attraction in the estate!

Balyarra Park is the latest park to be developed by Landcorp for the Baynton West and greater Karratha community. Baynton West is a family friendly estate and in recognition of the outdoor focused Pilbara lifestyle a strong emphasis on shared recreation facilities has been incorporated into the design.

The multi-purpose park caters for children of all ages (including adults) and includes picnic facilities, an irrigated AFL kick about area, multiple shaded play spaces including water and timber play elements, a number of large locally sourced tree transplants, artwork designed by local artists and the Northwest’s only sealed asphalt pump track.

Two key design and construction considerations of Balyarra Park was the reuse of locate materials and the creation of a family-friendly multifunctional community space for all to enjoy.

As a response to the harsh local environment the park softscape is designed to maximise tree coverage and shade options, including the transplant of locally salvaged Poinciana and Boab trees. Irrigation water use has been concentrated to the active turf kick about area. With water for the parks irrigation system provided by the City of Karratha’s Effluent Reuse System (ERS) which was designed and integrated as part of the broader Baynton West water strategy.
