Typical Hiring Process

Our typical hiring process is designed to best allow both an applicant and Emerge to each determine the suitability of the role and the best fit for both parties, with all confidentialities assured.

  1. Emerge receives your application – either as a general enquiry from you or in response to a specific Emerge advertisement we have placed.
  2. Emerge undertakes an internal assessment of your application in regard to experience, capacity, skillset and fit to determine next steps.
  3. Emerge may invite you for an initial broad informal discussion & interview so we can meet and get to know each other.
  4. Emerge will more fully consider the merits of your application.
  5. Emerge may invite you back for a second interview to discuss and resolve finer details.
  6. Emerge issues a job offer for your review.
  7. Emerge receives your written acceptance.
  8. Emerge prepares everything necessary to welcome you into the Emerge team.

Emerge Internships

Emerge offers a range of paid fulltime or part time internships to selected students currently studying relevant disciplines in the locations where Emerge offices are based. Our internships focus on providing real world experience by enabling students to assist on live active project work and participating in internal learning and social opportunities. Through this process students are primed to gain additional knowledge, upgraded skillsets and expanded thinking and comfort in an office environment that can assist with their studies and also lay the groundwork to lead to future employment either at Emerge or elsewhere for candidates who are eligible to work within Australia.

Career Mentoring

Emerge Associates provides a range of mentoring options and opportunities as part of our regular work routine. As part of our regular activities there are formal training and liaison events and ongoing informal tuition including standing invitations to attend and participate in: 

  • one on one liaison and explanation with our experienced senior staff.
  • our internal whole of office MASH sessions where guest speakers or relevant topical matters are presented, discussed and debated. 
  • our monthly internal whole of business coordination meetings. 
  • internal weekly sub-team meetings. 
  • our internal topic talks where selected items are explored in detail. 
  • a variety of site visits during the initial site inspection and analysis phase and the subsequent construction process.
  • external client meetings and project team and authority meetings. 
  • external community consultation events. 
  • post construction project reviews critiques conducted periodically to assess and capture both success and improvements.

Annual Student Mentoring

Since our inception in 1999 Emerge Associates has been actively involved in university education programs linked to future professional career development. Emerge Associates have organised and participated in annual student mentor programs for third or fourth year students. We have delivered lectures, tutorials and the co-ordination of professional practice learning units in conjunction with our various professional bodies. Emerge Associates have provided selected students with the offer of fulltime employment at Emerge Associates directly from the mentor programme. Emerge Associates seek to continue to offer this as an avenue to future employment, staff learning and personal growth to candidates who are eligible to work within Australia.

Work & Play

It’s not all work! Emerge has an active social committee and a healthy annual social budget. 

Friday drinks occur each week from 4pm for those wanting to participate and reflect on the week that was and the weekend to come. We have regular informal social gatherings – our office locations have been selected to facilitate easy and impromptu external social catch ups. We host annual formal events including a half day EOFY event and full day Christmas event with the time gifted to our staff.
