We are looking for a Lead Environmental Consultant and while our immediate need is in our Ecology team, as we grow so will our need for expertise in a variety of disciplines across Environmental Consultancy. The role we are looking to fill

Working closely with and reporting to the Victorian Manager this role is responsible for managing an extensive range of ecologically oriented projects and their outcomes, from broad packages of works to standalone projects. Essential to this role is that our project deliverables are appropriately finalised and technically robust. Therefore, it is important that this person is able to work collaboratively and effectively with our other internal technical teams to ensure on time delivery of projects, in line with client expectations.

On a day to day basis you would be involved in undertaking a range of project work including ecological/botanical surveys, threatened species surveys and the preparation and implementation of a range of management plans, including remnant vegetation and offset management, revegetation/restoration and threatened species management. Increasingly there is also the requirement that projects integrate local botanical knowledge with the sustainability and design aspects of our landscape architectural services therefore ideally you will have strong local botanical knowledge, and experience in surveying and management plans.

Position requirement

  • Tertiary qualifications in either environmental science, conservation biology and/or science with a botanical and/or zoological major
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and contractors in relation to projects
  • Demonstrated ability to produce detailed reports that are well written and technically accurate
  • A proven track record in managing small to medium sized projects
  • High level competencies with the MS Office suite
  • Previous experience in a consultant role
  • Preparation of specifications and the coordination of revegetation projects would be advantageous
  • GIS experience would be an advantage
