Emerge Associates operates across both environmental consulting and landscape architecture, with established teams and capabilities in each discipline. We have offices in Subiaco and Margaret River and undertake a wide range of projects across Australia, but with a key focus on Western Australia. We work across a number of sectors including land use planning, property and urban development, industrial development, oil & gas, resources and mining, natural resource management and agriculture.
Our Hydrology team is made up of environmental consultants, scientists and engineers ranging in experience from Graduate through to Principal. Many of our team are actively involved in the wider water and development industry (through associations including Australian Water Association, Urban Development Industry of Australia and Property Council of Australia) ensuring we are at the forefront of water conversations here in WA and Nationally, and help us to strive for sustainable, innovative water outcomes in our projects. Our team have been involved with award winning projects receiving recognition across the industry within the urban development and infrastructure space.
Your Opportunity with Emerge
We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic hydrologist/engineer to help us deliver our water resource capability, with a specific focus in hydrological/hydraulic modelling. You will be welcomed into our firm and team, and supported in your new role allowing for ongoing learning and professional development, working and collaborating within our existing teams.
Your role will involve working on a range of tasks across varying project types including:
- Catchment analysis and assessments
- Hydrological modelling
- Flood modelling and mapping
- Water Sensitive Urban Design
- Water management strategy & design development
- Flood risk assessment
- Technical report writing
You will be working with and supporting team members of varying experience levels, providing technical guidance and mentoring, as well as helping the Hydrology Team Leader manage modelling specific workloads across team members.
You will work with the wider Emerge team to drive integrated design solutions that provide positive and progressive outcomes for our clients. Liaising with key government and industry stakeholders, clients and co-consultants will be a key element of your role, ensuring a high-quality product to enable continuing and expanding workloads and opportunities.
What you will bring
- Current experience with 1D/2D flood modelling is essential. Familiarity with XP software suite desirable.
- Groundwater modelling experience/capability would be advantageous.
- Basic AutoCAD and GIS skills are essential.
- Ability to critically think and problem solve.
- A keen eye for detail and capacity to provide creative solutions to complex technical issues.
- Ability to manage and communicate team workloads and priorities.
- An enthusiasm, passion and willingness to assist the management team with client relationships.
- An enthusiasm to guide and support junior staff in their professional development.
- An ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within teams and at all levels.
- High standards of professional and personal ethics.
- Drive to assist in growing a dynamic business.
A Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Sciences or equivalent is essential.
