Emerge Associates have a strong record in welcoming new consultants and having a focus on developing professional careers, while providing ongoing career development opportunities through training, industry involvement and providing our consultants a career pathway from Graduate right through to Principal Environmental Consultant.  As your role progresses you will be exposed to greater levels of project management, client and stakeholder engagement, scoping and budgeting, and business development opportunities, all of which are key elements of a successful career in consulting.

The role we are looking to fill

We are currently looking to fill an Environmental Consultant role to enable the continued growth of our busy Southwest Team that is involved in a diverse range of projects right across the southwest of WA.

We are looking for a candidate that has environmental consulting experience, ideally up to 2-3 years.  However, we would consider recent graduates with less or no consulting experience if they are based in the southwest and can work from our office in Margaret River.

Our Southwest Team provides a range of environmental support and consultancy services including (but not limited to) the provision of environmental due diligence advice, strategic project environmental scoping, Environmental Protection Act (EP Act) approvals, permits and licences, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act) referrals and assessments, environmental support for Planning and Development Act approvals (scheme amendments, subdivision and development approvals) and bushfire risk management.

We work across several sectors including land use planning, property and urban development, industrial, state and local government, resources and mining, tourism, natural resource management and agriculture.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in environmental planning and approvals, and the role will contribute to a range of environmental planning and approvals-oriented projects in a hands-on capacity.

Our ideal match for the role will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in either environmental science, environmental management or equivalent
  • Ideally 2-3 years environmental consultancy experience, but less or recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • A desire to connect with other team members and contribute to overall team outcomes
  • Awareness of Commonwealth, State and Local Government environmental protection, town planning legislation and processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to follow instructions to develop report writing skills as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • Any previous work experience opportunities in land use planning, urban development and GIS systems would be highly favourable

The right person for this role will either have relevant experience or be a quick learner with Microsoft Office skills and has a professional and friendly demeanour with other team members and our clients.

If you are an enthusiastic, motivated team player who is comfortable trying new tasks and wants to be part of a busy and dynamic workplace, we would encourage you to apply.

What can we offer the ideal candidate?

Emerge Associates is a growing business with a culture oriented around exceptional client service and genuinely enjoying what we do.  We are committed to our organisational values and have a strong focus on career development.
